Hatrick! Three jobs on site by the end of the year….a contractor has been appointed by Places for London to deliver our refurbishment of a fine little listed building above the entrance to the Metropolitan Line station entrance in Paddington. The elegant faience-tiled elevations and original curved and glazed shopfronts are being refurbished, but behind this modest exterior a much grander space spanning the railway tracks is being revealed. Hidden from view for decades above the tobacco-tinged ceiling tiles of a betting office, the pyramidal roof structure with its central roof light is being opened up and will become home to a high quality restaurant operator. This project, along with Peckham Rye Station Square and Southwark’s Women’s Safety Centre mean we should have plenty of site progress shots to share in 2026.

Peterborough Station Quarter funding secured. Transport minister Lilian Greenwood confirmed that funding is now in place to kick-start regeneration of land alongside the railway, with Landolt + Brown’s station project acting as the centrepiece.

Southwark Women’s Safety Centre starts on site: Loop Interiors have been appointed to deliver our design for the new safety centre with work now on site and due for completion in (gulp) February next year. So great to see a fast-moving project as so much of our work, related to infrastructure, takes years to evolve. The Southwark team have been just great to work with – its going to be great.

A safer environment for women and girls: We have signed the Mayor of London’s Women’s Night Safety Charter! This excellent initiative led by the GLA and our client Southwark Council will encourage greater communication of issues effecting the safety of women and girls across our studio and to our clients and collaborators, as well as informing our own urban realm and building design. This began as a night-time charter but is being expanded to include those working in the built environment. Sign up if you can – its such a worthwhile initiative.

Peckham Station Square is up and running: The process of relocating over 80 local businesses has taken time, sensitivity and the construction of two off-site buildings but in autumn this year the final tenants moved out of two dilapidated buildings in front of Peckham Rye Station. BAM construction have been appointed and demolition will begin in December. Watch this space (emerge).

Fame at last…front page splash in the Ilkley Gazette! Our great little project to create a green transport hub in Ilkley at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales has gone public. Its been lead by a wonderful local community group, the Friends of Ilkley Railway Station, working in partnership with WYKA, Bradford City Council, Network Rail and Northern, who are now busy securing funds to take the project forward, with a great deal of support from the local community.
