About Us

Landolt + Brown is a London-based architecture and urban design studio established in 2006. Its work covers a range of project types but is predominantly civic in character, frequently infrastructure-led and based in complex urban settings. The practice has established a strong reputation for design excellence and detailed knowledge of working on or adjacent to major infrastructure corridors.

The founding partners each have over 30 years of professional experience, with Jan Landolt’s early career based in Lord Foster’s office where he became a Partner in 2002 and Adam Brown who worked with John McAslan for 15 years and became a Director in 2000. They have worked at a wide range of project scales and their experience includes projects involving historic buildings of national significance and leading design teams in major project working environments. The practice’s studio is in Bermondsey, London with a long-established team of associate directors, associates, architects and support staff.

We have extensive experience of working with leading regeneration agencies, transport providers, local authorities and private developers on complex sites many of which involve infrastructure interfaces or are located in sensitive townscape settings.

The practice collaborates widely and the practice’s work includes several commissions developed with artist Wendy Hardie who embeds a highly place-responsive creative approach within several of the practice’s projects. Landolt + Brown’s team is also passionate about the process of making. Its most successful projects are ones where we work directly with tradesmen and fabricators, drawing on their technical experience to expand our own knowledge and finding new ways of using materials and construction methods, to create buildings that are unique, contemporary and crafted.

The significant majority of Landolt + Brown’s workload comes from repeat business through clients who value what we do and appreciate the creativity and strength of our team.

The design quality of the practice’s work has been recognised in awards from the RIBA, Civic Trust, NLA and World Architecture News as well as a range of engineering institutions and trade associations. Senior members of our team also sit on and chair design advisory panels including the Mayors’ Design Advocates, TfL Property, Network Rail Design Panel, HS2 Design Panel, Highways England and Design Council.
