Southwark Women's Safety Centre
In early 2025 Landolt + Brown was approached by Southwark Council to design a new centre for women and girls suffering from violence and domestic abuse. This ground-breaking initiative is central to Southwark’s Women’s Safety Policy and will bring Council officers and a victim’s support charity under one roof.
The building itself is a new-build three storey shell which is being extensively remodelled to provide a new reception and ‘first point of call’, a large group activity space and support accommodation at ground floor level, five consultation rooms on the first floor and an open plan office for Council and charity staff on the second floor.
The trauma-informed design approach is deliberately non-institutional in character and includes large elements of bespoke blond hardwood fitted furniture and an earth-tone materials palette to create a calming and welcoming environment for the building users. The project was completed in early 2026.
