Bruce Grove Yard

This relatively small but important ‘landmark’ corner site on Tottenham High Road will be transformed from a fenced-off yard in front of a historic station building, into a new retail space as a showcase for Tottenham’s growing community of food producers and makers.

Landolt + Brown were commissioned by Haringey Council, working in partnership with Network Rail Property (now ArchCo) to develop a design-led response to this narrow, tapering site, which will incorporate the fine brick facade of the station building as the backdrop to a double height space which is glazed at street level and incorporates a deeply textured upper elevation comprising folded weathering steel plates and faceted slot windows to create a highly recognisable statement on this key urban crossroads. The design takes reference from the meeting point of the ‘rusty’ railway, the High Road itself and Bruce Grove and its historic wooded parkland.

The project has been granted detailed planning consent and is currently at contractor tender stage.

It won a NLA award in 2017 for the best unbuilt retail project.
